Ibrahimovic set to break Manchester United's 91-year-old record
Manchester United striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic is one goal away from breaking the club’s 91-year-old record if he scores against Hull City on Saturday, August 27.
The summer signing from Paris Saint Germain has been in blistering form since his arrival at Old Trafford scoring three goals in the opening two matches of the Premier League. If the Swede finds the back of the net against Hull, he will equal Jimmy Manson’s incredible feat of the 1924/1925 season. Mason is the only player to have scored in three consecutive games of his debut for Manchester United However, 34-year-old Zlatan has showed no sign of aging as his 100% start of the season seems to have ended the Red Devil’s previous goal scoring problems.
Jose Mourinho will be pleased with the striker’s performance so far after the veteran scored all United’s winning goals against Leicester City, Bournemouth and Southampton respectively.
Both United and Hull are joint top on the league table with six points from two matches and a strike for Ibrahimovic will make him joint with Jimmy Mason’s record. The Ibrahimovic’s headed goal against Southampton marked his 400th career goal as professional football player.
