Female Referee Suspends Game After She Was Told To Go And Wash Plates (Full Story)
On Sunday, female referee Marta Galego halted a game in the Catalan second division after a sexist spectator told her to “wash the dishes“.
The match between UE Valls and Cambrils Unió was suspended for a few minutes as Galego ordered the fan to be expelled from the ground.
Other fans at the game applauded the referee’s decision and Galego noted the disturbance down in her pad, surely with the intention of reporting the incident to the Catalan Football Federation.
This is the first use this season of a new rule put in place by the Catalan Football Federation as part as their ‘Zero Insults from the Stands’ initiative.
The rule allows stopping a game in case of verbal violence from the stands – if the game is stopped three times, it will be called off.
Should a Female referee be allowed to Ref a game with Men??
